WHAT IS A HYBRID MATTRESS?

A hybrid mattress is simply a mix of two different styles of mattresses, for example the Zeek Hybrid Mattress is a combination of springs and foam. Memory foam provides pressure relief while springs help limit motion transfer and provide additional support.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A HYBRID MATTRESS?

Hybrid Mattresses have been popping up everywhere lately, but how are they better than spring or foam mattresses?

A Hybrid mattress is often cooler than traditional memory foam mattresses as the springs allow for greater air movement between layers. As you can imagine, this is ideal for those hot Aussie summer nights, especially when combined with our super chill Ice Pillow and naturally cool Bamboo sheets. Many Hybrids, including ours, also have a softer more 'plush' feel than purely foam or springs—all without skimping on support. Neato.

HOW LONG DO HYBRID MATTRESSES LAST?

Hybrid mattresses, like most quality mattresses, generally last between 7 to 10 years and can last even longer if properly cared for. To extend the life of your mattress we recommend always protecting it with a waterproof mattress protector to help deflect any sweat or oils that may damage the mattress over time. No sweat!

WHICH IS BETTER—MEMORY FOAM, SPRINGS OR HYBRIDS?

When it comes to mattresses, ultimately the most important question is what is more comfortable for you. Everyone has different sleep and comfort preferences and what’s best for people is always going to vary.

Memory foam mattresses—such as our Original Mattress—do not contain any coils. Instead the Zeek Original consists of an Air Memory layer with Gel Particles, a Gel Infused Memory Layer with High Density Foam and a high density foam base. Memory foam mattresses often have a firmer feel and will contour to the shape of the body to provide pressure relief.

When it comes to deciding what makes a better mattress, it is important to ask yourself what kind of feel you prefer and go from there.

WHAT KIND OF BED BASE DO YOU NEED FOR A HYBRID?

Zeek mattresses are compatible with most bed frames and bases, including box foundation, slatted base and even on the floor. Bear in mind that the firmness might be different according to the base used (i.e. divan and floor base might feel firmer, slatted base might feel softer).

The Zeek Hybrid mattress is unique as it is one of the few mattress-in-a-box options that can be used on an electric adjustable base!

Also, whilst the mattress can be used on the ground this is generally not recommended as the floor can be home to dust, bugs, and mold and sleeping on the floor doesn’t allow adequate airflow around the mattress.
