Bean Bag Chair
Say hello to your new favourite bean bag chair! Consider this your warning – once you get into one of our Snug Pods, you’ll never want to get up again! The Snug Pod provides a soft yet supportive seat perfect for lounging, gaming, reading or working. Available in three different sizes (Junior, Midi and Super Duper) there’s a style to suit everyone! The Junior Snug Pod is perfect for kids and small spaces, and is a great addition to a quiet corner of the bedroom or living room. For teenagers and adults we recommend the Midi or Super Duper Pod. Bean bag furniture has come a long way since the original sacks and loungers, with improved ergonomics they now make a comfortable seat for work and play.
Bean Bag Bed
It’s a chair, it’s a bed, it’s the bean bag that does everything! Our cozy Snug Pods double as a spare bed, making them twice as useful! To access the bed hidden inside your Pod, simple unzip the outer cover, shake out the inner section and lay it flat on the floor. We recommend covering the bed with sheets to help keep it clean, just like you would with any other mattress.
Unlike traditional bean bag beds that are filled with noisy and hard plastic beans, the Snug Pod is filled with soft and silent foam so you can rest easy and not hear a thing!
The Junior Snug unfolds into a double bed, the Midi unfolds into a Queen and our epic Super Duper pods unfold into a King Size bed! These beds are great for sleepovers, unexpected guests, inside blanket forts or as a comfier alternative when you’re sent to sleep on the sofa (it’s okay, it happens to the best of us!)
To turn your bean bag back into a chair, simply stuff it back into the outer cover and zip closed. You’ll need a paperclip to open and close the zipper, as required by Australian consumer safety laws.
Bean Bag Filling & Bean Bag Foam
There are so many different options out there for bean bag filler. The Egyptians started the use of bean bags with small leather pouches filled with pebbles or dried beans. They didn’t use them as beds, but for fun and games.
The bean bag as we know it today, was first designed by Zanotta Design in 1969 in Italy, they were looking to market furniture to the hippie generation and so developed a soft pear-shaped sack chair. These were filled with thermocol pellets and later replaced with shredded polyurethane foam.
Thankfully you don’t have to sit on a pouch full of rocks or shredded plastic anymore! Modern bean bags are usually filled with EPS beans, whilst our Snug Pods are filled with soft comfy shredded foam.
For those looking for an alternative DIY bean bag filling some options include:
- Stuffing (just like your favourite teddy used to be filled with…)
- Organic Materials (pine needles, leaves, etc.) not generally recommended as they have a high risk of decomposing and becoming mouldy.
- Dried beans & Rice (but beware it’s going to take a LOT of filling to get comfy!)
We might be biased, but we think the best bean bag filler is our shredded foam, it’s soft, supportive, clean, and quiet. After lots of testing we found just the right amount to fill our Snug Pods with, so you no longer have to work out the best bean bag filling! Just jump right on in and relax!
Bean Bag Alternatives
The Snug Pod make a great alternative to standard bean bags, especially if you’re looking for something longer lasting and without all the mess of spilled beans! No need to refill, simply fluff and rotate your pod regularly to maximise your comfort! The durable outer cover can be removed and washed and is fitted with child safe zippers to protect your little ones!
